If you blink, you might inadvertently miss the entrance to Hyatt Regency Times Square, the first Hyatt Regency property in New York City.

The new hotel’s minimal frontage and signage are overshadowed by the dazzling “Bright Lights of Broadway” surrounding you.

No tourist could ask for a more quintessential NYC experience than a stay at Hyatt Regency Times Square. Located on Broadway, between 48th and 49th Street, the hotel is only steps from the eye-catching marquees of the Theatre District.

The building is directly across the street from the three-level, 25,000-square-foot M&M World store that draws visitors from around the world. The TKTS booth down the block (recognizable by its famous red steps) sells discounted tickets to dozens of theatrical productions on and off Broadway.

With convenient access to the city and its attractions, the hotel is only a short walk from Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, Rockefeller Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the elegant shops on Fifth Avenue. An entrance to Central Park is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

Wherever you turn, there are no shortages of places to eat, drink, or indulge your sweet tooth. A few examples: Junior’s Restaurant (famous for its cheesecake) is diagonally across the street. Hershey’s Chocolate World is a block away, and the flagship Krispy Kreme donut store next to the hotel has a pick-up window open 24/7 to assuage any late-night cravings.

A Sanctuary Off Times Square

Manhattan is a mecca for visitors from around the globe, in no small part, because of its unparalleled cultural, entertainment, architectural, historical, and culinary offerings.

Day and night, the city streets teem with residents, workers, and tourists. Cars, yellow taxis, city buses and tour buses whiz by, punctuated by the occasional sounds of a fire truck or ambulance. NYC never loses its luster. The estimated number of visitors to the city in 2025 is expected to exceed the record 64 million visitors who visited in 2024.

After a high-energy day in the bustling city, most visitors long for a comfortable, quiet, and peaceful retreat. A stay at Hyatt Regency Times Square provides just that.

Manhattan’s first Hyatt Regency made its debut on Broadway less than one month ago after a multimillion-dollar renovation and refresh. (The site was previously home to Crowne Plaza Times Square.)

There are always tradeoffs to staying at a brand-new hotel. But we didn’t experience any snags (except the hotel restaurant had not yet opened)..

A long corridor from the entrance leads to the escalator that ascends to an open two-story lobby with windowed views of Broadway. The oversized atrium is designed as a gathering place for guests to meet or socialize. Cue 48 Restaurant, which will open on the same level, will serve as a daytime cafe and an evening lounge, open from 6 AM to 1 PM.

The hotel’s 795 rooms offer a variety of configurations and views. Oversized windows allow natural light in during the day, complemented by blackout curtains at night. Guests can choose from rooms with views of Times Square, the Manhattan skyline, or the Hudson River.

Guest rooms are simply but tastefully furnished in light woods with neutral colors. The comfortable beds have tufted headboards with reading lamps. There are plenty of electrical and USB outlets over the marble-topped nightstands to keep electronics charged. The complimentary high-speed internet is easy to access and works flawlessly.

Everything looked new and fresh. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean; the towels were thick and plush. The white marble countertop over the sink and walk-in shower sparkled, accented by attractive black plumbing fixtures.

No, we didn’t get there (not enough time), but the hotel boasts one of the largest hotel fitness centers in the city with state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, open 24 hours a day.

The Best of Two Worlds

The new Hyatt Regency Times Square provides an upscale, relaxed ambiance in a one-of-a-kind location that will appeal to both leisure and business travelers. Its access to the city will appeal to any out-of-towners or theatre-goers seeking an affordable staycation.

During our August visit, when school was out of session, many guests at the hotel were families. What kid of any age wouldn’t want to stay in this exciting location?
