Over the year, we were blessed to “get our passports stamped” in 14 countries (Austria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and Tanzania), visiting 38 cities abroad, as well as being able to visit a number of regions and cities within the United States.

At the places where we stayed and settled in, there was time for learning, exploration, and/or relaxation. Some stops on the way to someplace else offered us brief glimpses, whetting our appetites to return.

A sampling of some of our favorite pictures (below) offer a sense of our travels, which are also marked on the map at the end of this post. A travel writer is very fortunate to have a great photographer at her side, and I’m very thankful for mine, my husband Jerry. His pictures bring back wonderful memories of where we went and what we did.

We both wish everyone a wonderful New Year in 2014, one filled with peace, happiness, good health and new discoveries.

Warm regards, Irene and Jerry

Goodness, Irene – my but you DO get around! Special kudos to Jerry for that splendid elephant shot, and all the best in 2014 to you both.

Thanks, Dyanne! Going through our pictures made me realize how much traveling we actually did. We feel so blessed to have these opportunities.

You guys definitely didn’t let any moss grow under your feet in 2014! We hope to see elephants in Thailand and Africa in 2014! As I sit here looking out at the minus 1 windchill (with the wind whipping the snow around, I feel like I can actually see it), your photo of the sunrise at Los Cabos is a most welcome diversion. Write on!

Some great travels there and I love the pics. What a thrill that must have been to see that elephant! Looks like we hit a couple of the same wonderful places this year — Barcelona and Budapest. I’ve got fond memories of both. Here’s to another great travel year!

Thanks, Corinne. I didn’t make it for the migration so I guess I’ll have to return.:-)
