Keukenhof: The Garden of Europe

Read about our visit to the Keukenhof Gardens on my new post on Travel Hoppers.
One of the most memorable moments of our AMAWaterways Tulip Cruise was our shore excursion to the Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, the Netherlands. What an incredible experience it was to arrive at the 70-acre park during the relatively brief season (between March and May) when some 7 million tulips were in full bloom!

Called The Garden of Europe, the park is a photographer’s paradise. No matter which direction you look, your attention will be drawn to the carpet of plants in every color. The vibrant flowers are set amongst beautiful landscaping dotted with paths, pedestrian bridges and ponds.

Before leaving, we stopped to purchase amaryllis bulbs that arrived at our home in New York the following fall. For many weeks, they brought the beauty of the Netherlands into our kitchen and joggled memories of our time in The Garden of Europe.

If you are headed to Amsterdam during the spring, take advantage of this not-to-be-missed opportunity!
