– Opportunities to see the hidden treasures of Greece, rich in culture, history and mythology
“This yoga retreat has special meaning to me,” says Belesis. “Monemvasia is where I spent several of my summers growing up. It is the place where my ancestors came from and where my parents began their respective journeys, leaving behind the ‘old country’ in pursuit of a better life here in the U.S.”
“This retreat combines the two things I am most passionate about – healing practices and traveling the world! I cannot wait to share this special experience with other women,” says Sager.
Ali began practicing yoga with an initial desire to reconnect to her body, her practice offering a place of refuge and growth. A devoted student since 2006, her interest in deepening her studies and connecting to others led her to become a 200 Hour RYT focusing on mindful vinyasa and restorative yoga under the guidance of Bo Forbes, with whom she continues to study with and assist workshops. She is also a certified Radiant Child Yoga teacher and is very grateful for the opportunities to continue her education in yoga, anatomy and women’s health with Chelsea Roff, Judith Hanson Lasater, Tias Little, Surya Little, Tom Myers and Linda Spackman. She is moved by the capacity of the breath and believes that through the cultivation of embodied awareness and self-compassion, we can find our own heartfelt language within.
Maria’s mindfulness journey through yoga and meditation began in 2006 as a way to manage chronic pain from lumbar stress fractures she sustained while a gymnast. Cognizant that emotional and psychological trauma often coexists with physical injury, she makes safety her primary focus as a yoga instructor. Maria’s love of sciences ultimately led her to study with Bo Forbes, earning her 200-hour RYT in mindful vinyasa and restorative yoga. The program, rooted in the neurobiology and psychology of yoga and the mind-body network, helped Maria develop a connection to self that is grounded in self-compassion, acceptance and love. She passes this lesson on to her students by encouraging mindful exploration of their own bodies and deeper connection to their gnosis. Maria is also a Certified Radiant Child Yoga teacher, and completed the YogaHOPE module on Trauma Sensitive Yoga training with Sue Jones.
