Apropos of Oscar and Grammy season…

In a world filled with inspiring “travel content,” it’s always exciting when your work is noticed and acknowledged by colleagues. Travel writing is a collaboration among the travel industry; marketing professionals; journalists, writers and bloggers; and readers.

1) More Time To Travel was named one of the Top 14 Women Travel Blogs for 2016 by iVisa.com.

iVisa kindly wrote: “Though Irene has a taste for a little luxury, she knows how to travel in style without breaking the bank, which is why the More Time to Travel blog is a must-read for all aspiring baby boom travelers…Irene serves as a delightful reminder that there’s never an excuse to stop traveling. Travel broadens the mind no matter what your age or how wise you are, and we’re confident that MoreTimeToTravel.com promises to be an enthralling read throughout 2017.”

What is iVisa? iVisa enables travelers to process visas from a computer, smartphone or tablet.

2) My article published in the Chicago Tribune, Lisbon’s Can’t-Miss Bakery was selected as a Finalist in the category of Culinary Travel.

This selection was particularly exciting because I absolutely fell in love with the bakery’s signature product, Pasteis de Belem, and the wonderful owner, Miguel Clarinha, a fifth-generation family member who was willing to share his story with me and my readers.
